Meet Jenn
I’ve always said I like to have a trip on the books to look forward to.
Growing up, travel for my family wasn’t about seeing the world. It was tradition. We returned to the same island in Florida year after year, and I loved it. We still go today, and it’s a reminder that some of the best trips aren’t about going somewhere new, but about returning to places that become part of your story.
It wasn’t until I traveled to Europe in college that my idea of travel really expanded. Suddenly there was a much bigger world to experience. In the years before having kids, my husband, Dave, and I traveled more adventurously, from Patagonia in Chile, which remains a forever favorite, to a boat trip through the Philippines.
These days, with two elementary-aged boys, travel looks a little different. We’re finally reaching the stage where longer flights and more adventurous destinations feel possible again, and I’m excited to show them more of the world. But I’ll forever love a great beach trip, too.
I think that’s part of what I love most about travel. There isn’t one right way to do it. Sometimes it’s discovering somewhere completely new. Sometimes it’s returning to the same place year after year.
The Planner Behind the Trips
I’ve also always been a planner. With a background in client services and project management, organizing all the moving pieces comes naturally to me. Long before Maris, friends and family trusted me to plan their trips, and turning that into something more felt like a natural next step.
For me, the best trips have balance. I want to explore and experience somewhere new, but still have time for an afternoon by the pool, a slower morning, or simply some downtime.
I don’t believe a great itinerary is the one that fits the most in. Good travel requires a little editing. The right pace is different for everyone, and that’s something I think about with every trip I plan.
I love beautiful hotels, exceptional service, and the details that make a trip special. But ultimately, luxury to me is having the time to travel, and that can look different for everyone.
Building Maris
I spent several years at home with my boys when they were young, and now that they’re both in school, building something of my own feels especially meaningful. Getting to be a small part of your trips and memories makes it even more so.
I’m based in Los Angeles with Dave and our two boys. Outside of travel, you’ll usually find me with my family, playing Mahjong, riding horses, or with an iced tea in hand.
